Every summer we love to camp at McCoy Creek. Our spot is only minutes away from a really fun little exclusive beach on Palisades. I couldn't get any pictures at the actual beach site because we had to swim across the McCoy Creek inlet to get there. Which is too bad because all the cool things were over there! Curt caught an awesome lizard the first day and had to rock away a mean badger the second!!! plus the kids gathered tons of little "sea shells." The water was a lot lower than last year, so we had a ton of mud, but that's alright too.

This was on the side where we parked the truck. Matthew is loving his new skill of swimming in deep water with a life jacket! It was all we could do to get him to stop to get in the raft for the long trip across to the beach side. Curt and I swam across the first day, which was amazing exercise, but the second day we took more floaties with us so we both got to relax in a river rat tube and hold hands while slowing making our way across. I wanted to stay out there for hours but someone had to watch the kids :)

If Curt and I come back this year with the kids (without my parents and their amazingly cozy and convenient trailer) we know exactly where we want to plop our tent! This site was really fun and just a short walk from where the trailer was parked on McCoy. Someone had worked really hard to pool off a section of the creek for kids. Matthew enjoyed throwing remaining rocks out and calling them "blockheads" while Hailey enjoyed splashing everyone with her stick.
The second day we slept in until 9! At least the kids and I did, I couldn't believe it. Curt and Grandpa went fishing (seperately). Grandpa came back in time for breakfast but we had to go hunt Curt down and bring him breakfast and then we fished for a while with them until it got too hot. Matthew got to reel in one of Curt's fish and Hailey got to reel in one of Grandpa's. So they had a good time. Plus there's always plenty of sticks for poking, rocks for throwing, and water for wading.
There was also this strange pigeon that must've been exhausted because it let Matthew and Hailey follow it up and down the creek for a little while just barely behind!

This moose lived right in our campsite. We saw him every morning and every evening! He wasn't even spooked by us, but we kept our distance!
We always appreciate my parents letting us stay in their trailer and keep them crazy with our kids!
